Stocksbridge Town Centre

Stocksbridge Town Centre

Stocksbridge lies 6 miles north of Sheffield City Centre.  originally it was an industrial town that grew with the expansion of Sheffield's steel industry along the Little Don Valley bottom.

The valley bottom is owned and dominated by Corus and Outukompu however their requirements are reducing with increasing areas of brownfield industrial land becoming available.  The town has been allocated Tier 3 status by Yorkshire Forward and WCEC were employed to work with Corus, Outukompu and their development partners, in close consultation with Sheffield City Council, to develop a masterplan for the area.

Proposals include the rationalisation of the steelwork operations onto a reduced and more efficient site with a major expansion to the town centre with new retail, leisure and office developments and land allocated for residential expansion at either end of the valley.
