Cornbow Shopping Centre, Halesowen
The £20 million redevelopment of the Cornbow Shopping Centre in Halesowen will deliver a large extension to the shopping mall incorporating multi-storey parking at high level. Existing shopping facilities will be upgraded, and a new 72,500 sq ft foodstoreconstructed for Asda .
This landmark design features curving rendered vertical circulation cores with elevations broken up by rain screen cladding, architectural steel framing, and areas of mesh panelling providing an exciting and dynamic effect.
Other phases of development include a new transport interchange which will complete the overall redevelopment of Halesowen town centre. On a constrained site, meticulous phasing has been implemented to ensure the development is undertaken in a safe manner, and in a way which minimises disruption to the existing shopping mall which is continuing to trade throughout the works.
Currently on site, the project is expected to be completed in 2008.
