wcec architects is partnering architect for Asda, responsible for over 40 new builds, plus numerous extensions and refurbishments over the past 40 years.
The practice has several developments underway:
£20 million development to extend and improve the Cornbow Shopping Centre in Halesowen.
The development which is being undertaken by construction company Bowmer & Kirkland for Vale Retail will see a new 72,500 sq ft Asda anchor store on 2 levels, together with a 4 level multi-storey car park above this.
£23 million new foodstore and additional retail, Rugby
This town centre redevelopment sits on the edge of a conservation area and will deliver a 1334 sq ft Asda store, with basement parking, ground floor sales, first floor warehousing and 2nd floor welfare facilities. 16 retail units will be constructed adjacent to the store, with pedestrian linkages to the existing town centre.
The development site includes a listed building which is being brought back into use. Enabling works and demolition of existing buildings are already underway, with work due to start on the main contract in May 2008. Completion is scheduled for July 2009.
Further Asda projects include stores at Ashington and South Shields, and a considerable number of sites in Northern Ireland for a new store roll out programme.
