Killingworth Centre
A major new mixed-use district centre of 250 000 sq ft in Killingworth, North Newcastle was completed in 2000 for client William Morrison.
The supermarket chain had an existing store on the site, and the first phase of development saw delivered a new store for the company with an adjacent single storey shopping mall with 40 retail units. A new car park, transport interchange and petrol filling station were also constructed.
The former Morrisons store was later refurbished for new tenant Matalan, and a link block constructed to link the Matalan store to the new supermarket and shopping mall.
A further phase involved the construction of community medical facilities on the site, delivering two GP surgeries, a dental practice and a pharmacy.
