WCEC Architects have completed the first stage of exciting plans to redevelop Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground.

This phase will see the stadium’s capacity increase to 37,000 as the Kop is remodelled and columns are removed. A new covered concourse will be built behind the stand incorporating kiosks and modern toilet facilities.

The designs also incorporate additional executive boxes in the Evolution Corner Stand together with improved facilities for disabled supporters.

A second business enterprise centre will be created between the Kop and the South Stand while new community and educational facilities have also been included.

These plans have now been approved by Sheffield City Council.

Design Architect Jason Ainsworth said “the continuing works to extend this stadium are predicted to bring enormous benefits to not only Sheffield United Football club but also to the wider Sharrow community. The quality of the design and proposed investment will even further enhance one of the regions finest stadiums”.

This design builds upon WCEC’s long standing relationship with the Championship side which has seen the practice design the Westfield Corner Stand, refurbish the Platinum Suite and create the acclaimed four star Copthorne hotel on Bramall Lane.
