Triple Tops!

A team of walkers from wcec architects are on top of Yorkshire after recently completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

This gruelling twenty four mile circular walk features climbs totalling more than 5,000 feet.  The team all ascended Pen-y-Ghent, then tackled Yorkshires highest peak of Whernside before conquering the final peak of Ingleborough.  The first walkers completed their quest in a creditable time of 8 hours and 45 minutes and all the walkers finished the course within the 12 hour time limit.

Joshua Botham the team organiser said "this was a fantastic expedition that was a great success due to the commitment of a very determined group of staff.  On the day the weather conditions were difficult, however the fact that I was amongst an amazing group of people made the challenge achievable and enjoyable.  I feel privileged to have been involved to raise much needed funds for such a worthy cause".

The staff were sponsored for this epic challenge to raise funds for the Derbyshire Air Ambulance Service.  The staff at the Architecture practice have chosen the Air Ambulance as their charity of the year for 2009 and have to date raised more than £2,000 to keep the service flying.

This was one of several charitable events that the staff have recently undertaken.  Earlier several staff were sponsored to race to success in the Dronfield 10K road run, while in May wcec Partner James Kemp undertook the Etape Caledonian Challenge, an 81 mile cycle ride through the stunning scenery of Highland Perthshire.
