Investors in people success for WCEC
20 Jun 2008
WCEC Architects has secured Investors in People status for its commitment to training and development.
The Chesterfield practice, which specialises in delivering mixed-use urban regeneration schemes, secured the award following a rigorous assessment process which included interviews with a quarter of the 85 strong workforce.
In assessing WCEC, the Investors in People assessor commended the company’s “outstanding dedication to the development of people in the organisation” and “good understanding of aspects that motivate people”.
WCEC embarked on the road to securing Investors in People status in 2006, introducing initiatives such as monthly team consultations, employee of the month scheme and a learning and development forum.
Investors in People provides a framework for improving business performance which involves setting and communicating business objectives and developing people to meet these objectives.
Alex Wall, partner at WCEC, said: “We’re delighted to achieve the Investors in People Award which is recognition of the tremendous effort and commitment put in by staff at all levels of the company.”
“Prioritising our learning and development activities has had a tremendous impact on the business. We have a well motivated workforce, staff turnover is low and training activity has enabled us to diversify and offer new services which is boosting our growth and turnover”.
