WCEC Student Wins Design Competition.

WCEC student, Robert Symonds has won a design competition organised by De Montfort Universitys Student Architecture Association. Fifteen pairs of architecture students from various university architecture departments were invited to take part in the day long competition.
The intention of the design, called Incising the Landscape was to create new spatial relationships using landscape with architecture.
Robert, along with fellow architecture student Matthew Gaydon produced a design which captured the essence of the brief and which was highly praised by the judges. Their design to create the heart for the Art and Design Department combined areas to work and play with an exhibition area.
They produced the innovative winning proposal and model within the tight one day deadline. The pair win a prize of a structured day at MAKE architects, in London.
Representatives from RIBA Education observed the design competition which was established to encourage experimentation and interaction amongst the students
WCEC sponsor many Architecture students during their university courses encouraging them through both their studies and work experience to develop exceptional design skills.
Rachel Wall, who is responsible for human resources and training within the practice, said we are absolutely delighted that Roberts skills have been recognised and rewarded. Robert has been associated with the practice since he came on a two week work experience placement while he was still at school; it is gratifying that through his dedication and our support he has won this accolade.
