Tunstall Regeneration Accolade

Derbyshire architects WCEC have helped its clients Dransfield Properties Ltd to win the Impact on Design award at this years North Staffordshire regeneration zones RISE awards.
This honour was awarded for WCEC Architects design for the latest phase of a regeneration scheme in Tunstall. The Ł8 million scheme for a Health and Fitness Centre, retail units and a 170 space car park is due to start on site in July 2007.
The project will create up to 70 jobs and will improve the highways and public green spaces in the area. A public art feature will be installed as part of the scheme. WCEC Architects and Dransfield Properties worked in partnership with Urban Vision to perfect the award winning design.
WCEC Architects have been working with urban regeneration specialists Dransfield Properties on the regeneration of Tunstall over the past six years. Tunstall was badly hit by the closure of pottery giant Waterford Wedgwoods Alexandra factory with the loss of hundreds of jobs. The redevelopment project is seen as a vital way to breathe new life into the Staffordshire town.
