40 years in Commercial Architecture
A retail development described as "the most important new civic space to be built in St Neots for 200 years" has gone a step closer to becoming a reality.
The long-awaited plans to develop this commercial site in the town's Love's Farm area were submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council recently.
The proposal comprises of six commercial units of between 700 and 775sq ft and a 4000sqft food store. A pedestrian boulevard links with Station Square creating an active frontage that opens up towards the principal area of public realm. The proposed district centre has been highlighted as a "key" building as part of the overall master plan. The key buildings within this development have the opportunity to display more advanced contemporary architectural designs whilst retaining the contextual limits of the urban design principles of their neighbouring buildings. Thus the proposed building should look to create a strong architectural form that extends the public realm and provides a landmark to the north of Station Square.
The target termination date for the planning application is Friday, July 1 2011.
