WCEC Win Morrisons Strategic Partnering Tender

Multi-award winning Derbyshire architects WCEC has been appointed a partnering practice to Morrisons, the UK’s fourth largest supermarket chain.

Morrisons have decided to work with a much smaller pool of architects to deliver new store schemes nationwide. The two year partnering deal is a major coup for the Chesterfield practice.

WCEC partner Ashley Turner said: “As a practice we have specialised in building up long-term working relationships with clients, we have been working closely with Morrisons for over 30 years and being selected to be a strategic partner recognises the quality and dedicated service we have delivered throughout this period.

WCEC also delivered many new build supermarkets including an award winning new store for Morrisons in Holyhead in 2009 with a record breaking 30 week construction programme – the fastest Morrisons store ever built.

Our past work for Morrisons has seen us successfully convert newly acquired stores in the Morrisons format including over 20 Safeway stores in 2004 and eight Co-op stores in 2009.”

For Morrisons the partnering will deliver year on year savings and speed the new build time for each store. For WCEC partnering delivers a reliable repeat workload which offers a strong platform for investment and expansion.
