Award Winning Stadium
19 Jan 2010
WCEC have recently completed the football ground and facilities for Saint Neots Town Football Club, a United Counties Premier League side in Cambridgeshire.
The stadium has been voted Best New Non-League Ground in the annual GT Ground awards. The judges praised the modern layout, the prominent attention to detail and the commercial opportunities offered by the well thought out function facilities.
The development includes a full size football pitch with floodlighting, stand, club house, changing rooms, function room and boardroom. The new ground has an overall capacity of 2,000. The ground came into full operation at the start of the 2008/2009 seasons.
Income generating activity at the club can now be maximised, as the new function room is being made available to members of the local community for events.
Adjacent to the main ground is an artificial pitch to FA performance standards which will be managed by the Local Authority and used by youth and community groups. The pitch can be used at full size or converted into three 5-a-side pitches.
Saint Neots (known by their fans as The Saints), dates back to 1879 and is regarded as one of the leading clubs at their level. The Club was relocated to make way for a development of 1,225 homes and a primary school on a 157 acre site. Part of the Saint Neots work did include new highway works and service diversions to serve the longer term residential development plans.
