Signed Sheffield United Shirt for Charity Ball
11 Nov 2009
WCEC Architects have generously donated a signed Sheffield United shirt to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Kids Scanner Appeal. The shirt will be auctioned at the charity’s Winter Ball later this month to raise vital funds towards a new CT scanner.
The shirt was signed during the recent derby match between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday at Bramall Lane which WCEC sponsored. WCEC Architects have a long association with Sheffield United having designed the newly built Corner Stand, Crookes Community Sports Leisure Centre and Copthorne Hotel. This month they obtained planning permission for their masterplan which could see the capacity of the stadium increase to 44,000.
The Kids Scanner Appeal aims to raise £500,000 to buy a state of the art CT scanner for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. This lifesaving equipment will produce faster clearer images than the equipment currently available and will provide more information to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
WCEC partner Ashley Turner presented the Sheffield United shirt to Fran Hunt a fundraiser from the Sheffield Children’s Hospital charity. Ashley said, “We are delighted to be able to help raise funds for this worthwhile local charity. It is comforting to know that our children will soon have the very best equipment available to them thanks to this appeal.”
